Saphenion®: Krampfadern und Thrombose – Beide Erkrankungen gehören in eine enge Kausalkette. Das Risiko von Krampfaderpatienten, eine oberflächliche oder tiefe Venenthrombose zu erleiden steigt expotentiell um den Faktor 2-4. Bei Frauen mit antikonzeptiver Hormontherapie steigt das Risiko um den Faktor 8.
Saphenion®: Varicose veins and thrombosis – both diseases are closely linked. The risk of varicose vein patients suffering a superficial or deep vein thrombosis increases exponentially by a factor of 2-4. In women on anticonceptive hormone therapy, the risk increases by a factor of 8.

Über viele Jahrzehnte war die Ligatur der Leisteneinmündung und das Herausziehen der Vena saphena magna und, wenn notwendig, deren Seitenäste die herkömmliche Therapie. Fortschritte der minimalinvasiven Kathetertherapie führten zur Entwicklung der kathetergestützten thermischen Verfahren mittels Radiofrequenz oder Laser. Diese Verfahren haben seit ca. 25 Jahren im klinischen Alltag zunehmend an Akzeptanz gewonnen.
For many decades, ligation of the inguinal junction and extraction of the great saphenous vein and, if necessary, its side branches was the conventional therapy. Advances in minimally invasive catheter therapy led to the development of catheter-based thermal procedures using radiofrequency or laser. These procedures have gained increasing acceptance in clinical practice for about 25 years.

Saphenion®: Die Radikalität der Krampfadertherapie – Der radikale operative Umgang mit der Vena saphena magna und Vena saphena parva und die damit verbundenen Komplikationen führten bereits schon in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts zu einer Zurückhaltung und lediglich eingeschränkten Verbreitung des Stripping – Verfahrens in Deutschland.

Der Venenkleber gibt den Gefäßchirurgen und Venenspezialisten die Möglichkeit, auch ältere Patienten ambulant an den Stammkrampfadern zu behandeln. Natürlich ist die Indikation viel mehr auf funktionelle Aspekte des Krampfaderleidens abzustellen, aber bei den rund 35% der über 60 – jährigen Patienten in unserer Praxis stehen durchaus auch kosmetische Gründe im Focus.
The vein glue gives vascular surgeons and vein specialists the possibility to treat older patients on an outpatient basis on the truncal varicose veins. Of course, the indication is based much more on functional aspects of varicose vein disease, but for the approximately 35% of patients over 60 years of age in our practice, cosmetic reasons are definitely also in focus.

Saphenion®: Prophylaxe Venenthrombose mit Aspirin sinnvoll? Ist das Medikament Aspirin (ASS) zur venösen Thromboseprophylaxe oder zur Vermeidung von Arterienverschlüssen 1. Wahl? Schon seit 40 Jahren wird die Bedeutung des Aspirins zur venösen Thromboseprophylaxe intensiv diskutiert. Es wird in den USA  viel empfohlen und ist in Supermärkten frei verkäuflich. In den europäischen Ländern hat Aspirin als Medikament zur Thromboseprophylaxe keine Bedeutung mehr.

The importance of aspirin for venous thrombosis prophylaxis has been the subject of intense debate for 40 years. It is widely recommended in the USA and is freely available in supermarkets. In European countries, aspirin is no longer considered a significant medication for thrombosis prophylaxis.
