Die Hersteller von Venenklebern setzen beim therapeutischen Einsatz des Venenklebers recht enge Grenzen. Bei Saphenion gehört der Venenklebers VenaSeal® seit mehr als 13 Jahren zur Behandlungen von Krampfadern und hat andere Katheterverfahren (Laser) inzwischen komplett abgelöst. Nach der Behandlung von bisher 2365 Patienten und 5078 Stammvenen macht man sich über das Therapieschema natürlich auch Gedanken. Über Modifikationen zur Verbesserung der Anwendung, zur Erweiterung des Spektrums und – aus Sicht des Patienten – einem noch schonenderen und schnelleren Therapieerfolg.

Saphenion®: Varicose vein therapy with vein glue – The manufacturers of vein glue set quite narrow limits on the therapeutic use of vein glue. At Saphenion, the vein glue VenaSeal® has been part of the treatment of varicose veins for over 13 years and has now completely replaced other catheter methods (laser). After the treatment of 2365 patients and 5078 truncal veins so far, one naturally thinks about the therapy scheme. About modifications to improve the application, to expand the spectrum, and – from the patient’s point of view – an even gentler and faster therapeutic success.

Saphenion®: VenaSeal® Venenkleber 14 Jahre

Im August 2012 begannen wir mit dem VenaSeal® – System, als dritte Praxis in Deutschland. Der Grund für diesen Therapiewechsel lag in der Eröffnung unseres zweiten Praxisstandortes Saphenion® Gefäßzentrum Rostock am 1.8.2012. Wir wollten weg von der Narkose und grossflächigen Anästhesie, so schien uns das VenaSeal® – System als sehr gute Alternative, da es nicht mit thermischer Energie arbeitet. Von Beginn an führten wir eine lückenlose umfassende Statistik zur Technik der Methode, zu den Erfolgen und Mißerfolgen, zu Nebenwirkungen und Komplikationen und zu Schmerzen und Rekonvaleszenz durch. Dies führte dann nach den immer größeren Erfahrungen mit dem neuen System auch zu Anpassungen und Therapie- erweiterungen. Inzwischen ist der Venaseal Katheter 14 Jahre im praktisch klinischen Einsatz.

In August 2012, we became the third practice in Germany to start using the VenaSeal® system. The reason for this change in therapy was the opening of our second practice location, the Saphenion® Vascular Center Rostock, on 1. 8. 2012. We wanted to move away from anaesthesia and large-scale anaesthesia, so the VenaSeal® system seemed to us to be a very good alternative, as it does not work with thermal energy. Right from the start, we kept comprehensive statistics on the technique of the method, on successes and failures, on side effects and complications and on pain and convalescence. As we gained more and more experience with the new system, this led to adjustments and extensions to the therapy. The Venaseal catheter has now been in practical clinical use for 14 years.

Saphenion®: Unsere Wartezimmerkonzerte – Die OZ-Kultur vom 12.07.2023 berichtete: “Rostocker Arzt begeistert Patienten mit speziellem Konzept” – der Journalist Werner Geske hatte die Praxis im Juni 2023 anlässlich des 10. Wartezimmerkonzertes, zu dem wir wie beim 1. Konzert Harpoon aus Warnemünde eingeladen hatten, besucht. Nach eigener Auskunft war er sehr gerührt von der Athmosphäre und der Möglichkeit, sich einen Eindruck von dieser Art Kunst in der Medizin verschaffen können. Angeregt führte er dann Interviews mit dem Musiker und Patienten.
Saphenion®: Our waiting room concerts – The OZ-Kultur of 12.07.2023 reported: “Rostock doctor inspires patients with special concept” – the journalist Werner Geske visited the practice in June 2023 on the occasion of the 10th waiting room concert, to which we had invited Harpoon from Warnemünde, as at the 1st concert. According to him, he was very moved by the atmosphere and the opportunity to get an impression of this kind of art in medicine. He then conducted lively interviews with the musician and patients.

Saphenion®: Kathetergestützte Therapie Baker-Zyste

Die Behandlung der Baker-Zyste kann entweder konservativ oder operativ erfolgen. Die konservative Therapie schließt eine antientzündliche medikamentöse Therapie (Ibuprofen, Diclofenac) und auch eine Punktion der Zyste ein. Bei der operativen Therapie wird in der Regel die gesamte Zyste über einen recht großen Hautschnitt in der Kniekehle freigelegt und an ihrer Wurzel (Kanal ins Kniegelenk) unterbunden und dann abgetrennt. Auf Grund der Radikalität des Eingriffs muss man nach der Operation mit den üblichen Komplikationen chirurgischer Eingriffe in sensiblen Regionen (Kniekehle) rechnen.
Die kathetergestützte bipolare Thermoablation (RFITT) der Baker – Zyste ist ein weltweit in nur wenigen Zentren im klinischen Einsatz befindliches Verfahren zur endozystischen minimalinvasiven Thermoablation von Kniegelenkzysten. Es wurde 2009 von SAPHENION in den klinischen Alltag eingeführt.

Baker’s cyst can be treated either conservatively or surgically. Conservative treatment includes anti-inflammatory medication (ibuprofen, diclofenac) and a puncture of the cyst. In surgical treatment, the entire cyst is usually exposed via a fairly large incision in the hollow of the knee and its root (canal into the knee joint) is cut off and then removed. Due to the radical nature of the procedure, the usual complications of surgical procedures in sensitive regions (popliteal fossa) must be expected after the operation.
Catheter-assisted bipolar thermal ablation (RFITT) of the Baker cyst is a procedure for endocystic minimally invasive thermal ablation of knee joint cysts that is in clinical use in only a few centers worldwide. It was introduced into everyday clinical practice by SAPHENION in 2009.

Saphenion®: Long-term results of VenaSeal®-vein glue

Saphenion®: long-term results of vein glue – has been published by us in regular succession for 10 years and aims to compare international publications on the subject with our own experiences and to remain meaningful. Our patients are now very well informed about this therapy method for varicose veins, which has been offered for 14 years.

After 14 years of use, we have so far treated 2365 patients on 5078 saphenous veins – over 1,8 Mio. patients worldwide have now been treated with the vein glue VenaSeal®. In the meantime, we have successfully used the vein glue VenaSeal® to clean the vein system in 74 patients with COVID-19 infection after they have recovered, and have treated 84 patients with ulcera crures of legs successfully.

Saphenion®: Biokleber in der Medizin

Auf der einen Seite sehen wir weltweit einen Anstieg des Einsatzes von Venenkleber (> 1,8 Mio. Patienten) und die Erweiterung des Einsatzspektrums von Biokleber in allen operativen Disziplinen. Allein in unserer Praxis sind inzwischen 2365 Patienten an 5078 Stammvenen erfolgreich mit den Venenkleber “VenaSeal®” therapiert worden.
Auf der anderen Seite sehen wir – immer noch – vereinzelt unsachliche und fachlich völlig unfundierte Darstellungen in Presseartikeln und Patienteninformationen sowie auch in Privatgutachten und erleben in persönlichen Gesprächen mit Patienten und Kollegen immer noch eine Verunsicherung und gewisse Unkenntnis zum Thema Biokleber.

On the one hand, we are seeing an increase in the use of vein sealants worldwide (> 1,8 million patients) and the expansion of the range of applications for bioadhesives in all surgical disciplines. In our practice alone, 2365 patients with 5078 truncal veins have been successfully treated with the “VenaSeal®” vein glue.
On the other hand, we still occasionally see unobjective and technically completely unfounded statements in press articles and patient information as well as in private reports, and in personal discussions with patients and colleagues we still experience uncertainty and a certain lack of knowledge on the subject of bioadhesives.
