Schon seit 40 Jahren wird die Bedeutung des Aspirins zur venösen Thromboseprophylaxe intensiv diskutiert. Es wird in den USA  viel empfohlen und ist in Supermärkten frei verkäuflich. In den europäischen Ländern hat Aspirin als Medikament zur Thromboseprophylaxe keine Bedeutung mehr.

Saphenion®: Krampfadern und Thrombose – Beide Erkrankungen gehören in eine enge Kausalkette. Das Risiko von Krampfaderpatienten, eine oberflächliche oder tiefe Venenthrombose zu erleiden steigt expotentiell um den Faktor 2-4. Bei Frauen mit antikonzeptiver Hormontherapie steigt das Risiko um den Faktor 8.

Auch in Deutschland arbeiten inzwischen ca. 30 Venenzentren nach dieser vergleichsweise neuen – aber auch wieder nicht so neuem – Methode. Der Biokleber ist in seinen Grundbestandteilen bereits seit Beginn der 60er Jahre im Einsatz in nahezu allen operativen Disziplinen.

Vein gluing has become established worldwide over the past 14 years. In Germany, too, around 30 vein centers now work with this relatively new—but then again not so new—method. The basic components of the biological adhesive have been in use in almost all surgical disciplines since the early 1960s.

Saphenion®: long-term results of vein glue – has been published by us in regular succession for 10 years and aims to compare international publications on the subject with our own experiences and to remain meaningful. Our patients are now very well informed about this therapy method for varicose veins, which has been offered for 13 years.

After 13 years of use, we have so far treated 2264 patients on 4785 saphenous veins – over 1,1 Mio. patients worldwide have now been treated with the vein glue VenaSeal®. In the meantime, we have successfully used the vein glue VenaSeal® to clean the vein system in 68 patients with COVID-19 infection after they have recovered, and have treated 78 patients with ulcera crures of legs successfully.
